A Council Meeting I Could Have Done Without... - 22nd September 1007

I could do without most of them, but this one in particular was awful, just awful. It was about Father, of course and how the chance of a full recovery was all but impossible, at least that was Gaius's opinion.

Which...well, is something he's never mentioned before, he hasn't exactly being optimistic about Father's condition of course, but he's never said there's no hope at all. It was like a blow from a lance.

And now the council is saying that a Regency Act has to be written and put into place sooner rather than later. Once this news gets out (as it no doubt will) I'll have no choice. I have to be Regent, I'm no longer temporarily filling in for my father, I am taking over from him.

Just writing this makes it all so...final.

Damnit.

I don't want to be the king Father is, nor do I want to be the sort of ruler YOU were. I suppose that makes me evil, because I won't be your sister's lapdog.

You offered Guinevere slavery, you wanted her to sit back while you murdered the people in the Lower Town, you wanted her to throw her brother to the dogs. Did you expect her to accept such an offer?

And why would they choose people like you and your sister? Did you really expect to raise an immortal army and be greeted with open arms?

Or perhaps you wanted to unleash a horde of cockroaches to eat through people's brains?

Or unleash a plague, or a dragon, or turn statues to monstrous life?

The Druids are peaceful I'll grant you, but you are not a druid, your sister isn't a druid. You are heartless witches and I swear on my very life, you will never take Camelot. I will kill you with my bare hands if that's what it takes.
