So we meet again book, I don't know why I bother writing in you, but I suppose after what happened with Merlin tonight requires recording for all prosperity as much as anything else.

Honestly, I don't know why I let him leave this castle, and I can only blame Gwaine for this, no doubt he introduced Merlin to the 'wonders' of the tavern and now I have to put up with the aftermath. He's bad enough at performing his servant duties all ready, let alone with a hang over.

Hmmm, maybe I'll get Gwaine to polish my boots tomorrow, just to teach him to stop taking impressionable idiots to the tavern.
not_a_clotpole: (With Gwaine (and Merlin))
Gwaine been drunk.

It's rather unkightly behaviour in all honesty, especially if he's going to stumble all over the place, but he makes such an amusing drunk I can't really punish him for it. He always seems to bounce back from it...so I can be certain he won't be skipping training tomorrow.

Today I visited Father, who is in a much better state than he was this time last week. Although that's not saying much, all it means really is instead of ranting and raving and sentencing himself to death he's silent, staring vacant eyed at...something. Sometimes he whispered something, but I couldn't make out what it was. I can't even be sure he recognised me.

At least he's eating again, thank God for small mercies.

Merlin has been in a strange mood this week...I mean stranger than usual, I'm not sure what his problem is exactly, I tried speaking to him about it today, but...well...

Maybe Guinevere can get it out of him...although when I'm with Guinevere the last thing on my mind is Merlin! But I should make a note to remember that...
not_a_clotpole: (Writing is Hard...)
The past two days have been exceptionally disturbing in all aspects.

And I swear if Merlin ever, ever says anything about what happened...there won't be enough hours in the day for the rotten fruit I will have thrown at him in the stocks.

Anyway, today was Guinevere's birthday, and I'm pleased to say I managed to get a lavender bush, shrub, plant for her...during my er, travels the past few days and if I may say so myself I think I really got it right this time. Despite Gwaine's less than glowing assessment of my gift, but honestly when has Gwaine ever had anything resembling taste.

Speaking of which, I encountered an...older Gwaine the other evening, I can't say the years made much of a difference in his alcohol consumption, but if it was a glimpse into the future I'm glad he's still around.

Not that I'd ever tell him that...
not_a_clotpole: (Oh God...)
I'm currently covered in some sort of salve given to me by Gaius.

And why? Because while I was out today attempting to get a lavender plant for Guinevere I somehow tripped and ended up in an ivy bush.

I pride myself on being the sort who doesn't somehow 'trip' that's more Merlin's style, but I suppose even the best of us can be let down by our own feet.

God help me though, I don't think Gwaine will ever let me live this one down.

He's yet to come back from night patrol, so I can comfort myself by being able to enjoy a little peace until then.
not_a_clotpole: (What the Hell is this Crap?!)
I sincerely doubt it, this morning I ran into Gwaine, who was having a very strange problem. Privately it was a rather fitting problem and even rather amusing although the sorcery behind it is far from benign I'm sure.

After dealing with Gwaine, Percival returned from patrol with news that he had apparently seen Morgana in the woods close to Leon's childhood home. Being only one man he could hardly attempt a capture, honestly I'm surprised he managed to escape! Apparently Morgana was speaking to a child, I pray she's not planning on doing something horrible to him. After getting this news, the knights and I (sans Gwaine) went to track her down, but she had, of course disappeared. As had the child...I hope he's all right.

We're no closer to knowing where Morgana is hiding out and considering how quickly she disappeared after Morgause's army was destroyed she seems more than capable of moving very quickly. So how are we supposed to track her down?

We need to find her and...well I don't know, but not knowing is dangerous...we never know when she'll strike.

The Crown Prince is out on patrol with Sir Gwaine.

It will be a very interesting patrol....

Yes, Merlin went and got some sort of illness and Gaius has confined him in the Physician's Quarters for the last few days. He has the worst timing of anyone I know. There's a huge feast coming up and he's not around to assist me! I have to use someone else and I'm not sure what Merlin has done with my room but he's definitely rearranged things. It took Boris or whatever his name was ten minutes to find my ceremonial sword.

On the upside at least Gwaine is settling in well enough. All things considered I was half expecting him to disappear after a while, he really doesn't seem like the stay around type, but perhaps I misjudged him.

I managed to spend a few moments with Guinevere today, a miracle indeed! Hmmm...one good thing about feasts, she like all the servants is required to participate so at least I'll be able to look at her for a few hours and it'll be easier to speak with her. Who would have thought it would be so difficult?

Having said that, though, I hope Merlin is back on his feet soon, this Boris hasn't brought me my evening fruit bowl. And I even reminded him nicely! Sometimes people are just useless at their jobs.

Go see Gwaine.

Best knighitng ever!

not_a_clotpole: (What the Hell is this Crap?!)
What I saw last night on patrol.

It was a dragon.

A singing dragon.

Why was a dragon singing? Why was there even a dragon (I killed the last one years ago!)? God only knows!

I can only assume I was dreaming...or it was some sort of...visual trick, because a singing dragon? Really?

I wonder if Gwaine was playing some sort of joke on me, I wouldn't put it past him and I'm sure there's a potion out there that makes you see things.

Or maybe I was just tired...

Either way I'm going to take Gwaine down at training tomorrow. He deserves it anyway.

Ah, a day very well spent indeed.

Although, I could do without Gwaine taking me down! He using dirty tactics, I mean tripping? That's just...that's certainly not in the Knight's Code. And we were training by knight's rules, a tournament is coming up soon. And it's not a melee.

Right, there's going to be more training tomorrow so I'll be off now, I've got to be sharp and ready for anything. Not that I'm not usually, but just to ensure I'll be even more at the top of my game!
not_a_clotpole: (My Thinking Face)
Even though the man is dead. Unbelievable.

Basically the problem is his kingdom. Cenred had no children - at least not any acknowledged children and no family it would seem, because in the months he's been dead no-one there seems to be trying to take the crown. It's not much of a kingdom if you ask me, which is probably the reason for that, but King Tewdrig is of the opinion that having a kingless kingdom is a liability and possibly a dangerous one.

Caerleon happens to be seperated from Cenred by Camelot, so he must be extremely worried. But as one of the councillor's mentioned a raid through our norther borders that could also encompass Caerleon (which is only a small kingdom) is more than possible.

So all this is bouncing around in my head and I have no idea what I''m supposed to do exactly. I suppose Cenred should be annexed, but Camelot is still recovering from Morgause and her army and not surprisingly Camelot's own army is less than enthusiastic about marching off and leaving family behind, especially since we don't have much of an idea of what's going on in Cenred.

I'm thinking spies might be useful...to report on the situation. Gwaine in particular would probably be suited to such a task. I need to track him down tomorrow - I'm sure he's in the tavern but I'm worn out.

Which is really quite sad.
not_a_clotpole: (I'm Serious Business)
Yes, today I got a chance to practice for the little tournament that'll be part of the Beltane Celebrations. Jousting! Which I'm quite sure Gwaine's never done because I bested him thoroughly.

I enjoyed myself!

I ran into Guinevere right after, I thought perhaps she might have seen the jousting. But no. She's been very busy helping bring together the actual feast bit in the Feast of Beltane.

Unfortunately after that pleasant time, I had to go back to yet another round of council meetings, honestly, no wonder Father was always so short tempered... These things just drain the joy right from your life.

I may be exaggerating a bit, I guess.

On my way back, I wandered into that multiverse thing and met that interesting fellow Mr Hornblower. He always has good advice so I decided to talk to him a bit about all this council stuff.

The more ears the better if you ask me. I have no idea how Father managed to do it mostly alone, I'm exhausted by it all, I need sleep!

Back in Camelot! Actually we got back yesterday evening - way ahead of time! Gwaine must have known a short-cut or something.

Of course, Gwaine couldn't actually accompany us, with the banishment and all, but I'm sure he's carousing in a tavern somewhere, making some poor sap foot his bill.

First thing's first when I got back - Guinevere! I know...it was only four days, but it felt like a life time...even with my rather odd...er...vision? Dream? Obviously there was still magical residue floating around the Perilious Lands. A decidedly pleasant spell, although it did almost get me killed in a bog. I'll have to be more careful in the future...

After a lovely reunion with my lovely Guinevere, I had to deal with Morgana. I lost her token somehow (not in the bog incidentally) and tried to make it up to her by presenting her with the Fisher King's trident but uh...it really didn't make up for loss.

So my birthday is tomorrow...Father is of course throwing a feast, which is well...nice...but of course Guinevere will only be there in terms of her serving duties.

I just wish...

But I don't have time for this sort of...girly girl heart-searching, I'm training the guards in half an hour, they really must get better.

not_a_clotpole: (My Happy Face)
Of course, there wasn't any doubt (despite what certain other people had to say), the trident is in my hands.

With the help of certain...um people...er thank you, Merlin...Gwaine. Not that you'll see this.

Another day and a quarter of riding is ahead of us, and then I can see Guinevere I had the loveliest...hallucination thing...about her on my way through the Perilous Lands.

And er...my father and Morgana - who's bracelet I lost...which is rather embarrassing, a knight's not supposed to lose a lady's token. I don't know how I'm going to explain that one.

I'll think of something. Later...I'm not about to say anything, but whatever made me all...strange on the journey to the Perlious Lands, is still hanging around a bit.. I don't want to end up like Merlin falling off my horse.

Poor Merlin...
