Merlin, Merlin, Merlin - 1st November 1007

He certainly knows how to make a feast awkward.

Last night was Samhain, so of course there was a feast. I've never cared for feasts at the best of times, but ever since Father's illness and Morgana's betrayal it's been even worse. For the first few months I was completely alone up there at the head table, sitting beside the empty King's Chair, trying not to notice it.

Of course, a few months ago Uncle Agravaine came so things have been less...awkward, but still.

Anyway, for once I thought the feast was going rather well, then Merlin had to make an ass of himself and faint. Actually faint, it's not as if I worked him too hard today! He barely had to do anything! And it wasn't incredibly stuffy in the hall either.

Still, Gaius assured us all that Merlin is fine and that he'll be up and about tomorrow, which is good...I mean I wouldn't want anything to be seriously wrong with him, aside from his general bizarre behaviour.

But fainting, really? He's such a delicate flower.

Samhain, really? And here it's already winter. Oh wait, right--time discrepancies.

Either way, perhaps your friend's fallen ill.

I assume you must be one of the duck people? I never know when you're going to show up -

And I wouldn't worry about Merlin, he's fine, he'll be annoying me in no time.

While I am not myself a duck, it does indeed seem that I am involved with this network somehow.

I do hope so. Usually fainting would indicate some kind of actual problem, wouldn't it?
not_a_clotpole: (Yeah - no...)

Well, I don't mean you're actual ducks, but whenever you show up this symbol pops on the page of my book.

Anyway, it would I suppose, but then you're not Merlin. He's a bit...well not weak exactly...but Gaius has been court physician for years so if he says it's a temporary affliction I see no reason to be alarmed.
croibhristeoir: (so who am i now)

Oh, I see what you mean.

[Haaaaang on a second. Someone has just realized something]

...Wait, 'Merlin'? Saber, is that you?

Sabre? No, Prince Arthur of Camelot.

And you are?
croibhristeoir: (can't believe you were the one)

[Okay, there were at least three things about that Lancer found confusing.]

[One, 'Prince' rather than 'King'. Fine, time discrepancies and so on.]

[Secondly...this didn't sound like Saber, and he knew the only Arthur of Camelot was the knight he had met earlier that same evening.]

Diarmuid Ua Duibhne of the Fianna, otherwise known as Lancer. I think perhaps this network is notably more confusing than I expected.

It seems to contain mostly future people and those of other worlds. I've never heard of Fianna? I don't suppose it's on earth?

[Because that'd be too much normalacy to hope for when it comes to this book.]

I'm pleased to meet your, Lancer, if you could call this meeting.
